I had my stroke 4.5 years ago and have aphasia. Two years ago I joined a choir, Absolutely Everybody, which is a group of the School of Hard Knocks. I love it, everyone is disabled like me but I seem to be the only one there who had a stroke.

We practice every Friday morning, and we’ve travelled around to performances that we do - like CEO Sleepout at Robina, performance at Maroochydore last year, Christmas each year at SLQ The Edge, performances at Mental Health days and at Moreton Bay College - and even a trip down to Melbourne!

We owe a huge thank you to the SOHK administrator, Susan, the choir director, Melanie, and our piano (organ) man (and I have forgotten his name! Damned stroke!).

SOHK will be changing it’s name soon because our founder is retiring. Best of luck to him!

If any of you would like to try the choir, ring Susan - ph 0417 075 053.

Cheers, Louisa xx
