Personal experience and neuropsychology intersected in Ballina last December, when psychologist and stroke survivor David Roland hosted an event called "Life after brain injury". The event was organised by the Northern NSW Local Health District Brain Injury Service to mark International Day of People with a Disability 2015.
David, who is the author of the book How I Rescued My Brain: a psychologist's remarkable recovery from stroke and trauma, spoke about how disability after a brain injury can have an upside, by changing your perspective on life.
He also interviewed neuropsychiatrist Harry McConnell, who answered audience questions on taking care of yourself, the potential of neuroplasticity and mindfulness, and dealing with issues like depression and fatigue.
Videos and transcripts of all talks are available below.
