Our search for life, start of the universe, black holes, gravity waves etc, consume kudos and truckload of money with some beneficial applications found from the technology.
I have written about the children who die of starvation yearly who could be saved if some of the money spent on knowledge of things with little or no application to mankind could be diverted to relieve human suffering which is easy to find.
How?
Every request for govt. money for out of earth research must include a percentage of equipment and staff costs for humanitarian work. Before the funds are handed over the applicants must reach agreement with an approved food distribution agency in Africa to contribute an agreed percentage of on costs. The agreement would include ongoing costs. The agreement would be certified in Africa, where the main proponent of the expenditure plus one other would, at their own expense meet agency staff at a nominated airport and join in 14 days of food distribution. If this was done to the satisfaction of the agency they would issue a certificate of satisfaction to the govt, so funds will flow. Without this certificate, no govt. money. It’s a win/win. Our leading researcher is doing voluntary work for children and has the photos of his new friends as a reward.
