I had a stroke vin 2021 august to be close, it was an iskemic one and I had a clot removed I had no left arm and not all of my left leg. couldnt talk properly so not understood well. Sound familiar?I was in hospital for a few weeks and then transferred to Canberra university hospital (rehab) a great place to get better. My story is not a particular unusual one. I went to the Gym everyday for six hours and while i was there the place was locked down for 11 weeks, no visitors it was a bit dreary overall but I survived.
What I wanted to say to those who dont or wont work towards getting better or rather sit and wait for the physios to do it for them. They can only show you, you must do the work, it doesnt end when you have a stroke a new course in life begins. the people who are paid to help lose heart when you do and concentrate on those who try. This worked for me, I regained the strength and movement in my arm and leg am home and walking. I am not physically who i was but will get there. I go to the local gym and exerciseGone from not being able to lift 1/2 kg to over 30kg ,I am going to get all the muscles working again. I know many have difficulties even moving, but keep trying, there are no prizes for doing nothing. My thanks go out to the people who helped me, where would we be without them. I was blown away when I read on this site about the lady who moved her hand after 10 years, thats determination, makes my story very ordinary. keep at it, it does work.
