Why do I attack words such as rehab, the “S” word, and the loose use of goals and advice given to S.A.P. by “well-wishers”?
The words we use reflect who we are, so perhaps I should lighten up. But I will not, it’s what I do.
If you print and use the “S” word whenever stroke is being discussed, you miss a view of recovery. You cannot be an “S” proponent and a supporter of recovery at the same time. “S” is just a label, recovery is a measurable result of therapy and work. No label can do that.
Not convinced?
Pop out to some post-stroke – (there’s a clear description) of hospital? And look for some “S” s. They have all joined the recoverers under the control of physios.
Now to post-stroke “hospital”, would you rather get post-stroke treatment or reconstructed in a rehab hospital?

P.S. Just another brilliantly clear word lost to stroke understanding! And our blog, entries should be called personal contributions. That’s enough.
