Well, today was the first day with my physio since my stroke. He was quite surprised that I had a stroke (as have most people been). After hearing what had happened and reading the letter from the neurologist who treated me in hospital, my physio began a plan to help my rehabilitation, which hopefully will result in me regaining most my balance. The first step will be hydro-therapy sessions due to the risk of injury through falls. On another positive note, my physio also said that I was progressing really well given the severity and type of stroke I had suffered. After consultation with the treating neurologist prior to booking physio sessions, it was decided that I should see the physio that I had been going to for many years as he knew me and the injuries I have sustained over the past 20 years or so - much better than trying to tell a new physio all I had done to my body! The physio told me that it will take time but he believes that I have every chance of getting back to nearly my pre-stroke state; especially given the progress I have made so far. A good way to start 2018!
