Right, where am I at. Ok, so I passed, yay for me, not with flying colours, I might add but I'm good with that. Something about head checks and too close to the car in front. Damn, my bad habits have returned to haunt me. Unlike my under 17yo competitors, I completed the course in record time, just by doing the speed limit. Much to my dismay, this meant that the examination officer extended my testing time. All good. Interestingly, and I did not know this, that part of the test included putting your Walker in and out of the vehicle. Now the true test comes. Sourcing a car and modifying without the help of the NDIS, as really, who in my position can afford a car under 5 years old. Apparently, according to my kids, the parts I've hoarded away in my garage won't help me with this engineering feat. Whichever way you look at it, this is not a cheap undertaking. Then comes obstacle 562, holding onto my licence. Just as I received my new license and cracked open the bottle of Champers, I got a letter from NSW RMS saying they are required to take it away again if they do not receive an annual review from my neurologist, cardiac specialist, sleep specialist and OT by mid Jan. I get it, but I didn't see that coming. I'm going to have to pull some serious favours at this time of the year. Don't get me wrong, don't let this stop you from obtaining a very important goal.
