I had a stroke in 2020 at the age of 76, through COVID, to make matters worse.
It has been a long time, and I have not posted here before, but I felt the management methods my daughter uses to manage my care might also help others. I'm at home, and although I do have my husband, the effects of the stroke mean I need personal care help daily and am supported by a home care package.
My daughter worked so hard and still does to manage the care I need; personal carers, physiotherapists, OT's, gardeners and all that comes with managing the care package. She uses My Health Story, which is an online website and App. She has created my story, and so I always have my information on my phone. My daughter and my carers also have access via a private link, and they all keep my story updated.
It helps me not having to repeat myself, and of course, I could never find my history or seek carers on carer platforms or do any of that at the best of times. But when I go to appointments, my carers have My Health Story on my phone, and any information I need is accessible to them. My daughter and the carers have to keep the information up to date, but it only needs to be done once. Then we all have the information, and anyone else who needs it has a private link that I can control.
I'm not tech-savvy, but at least I can share my information or hand my phone to someone, and my care team has everything they need to check in with me.
It's a great resource. I thought it was worth sharing on this lovely new website.
