Hi Paul
Thank for reaching our on EnableMe and for asking this question. I am sorry to hear of your stroke 6 years ago.
Were you looking for lifting aids for small objects like tools, for a person, or larger farming equipment like machines? The possible options for each of these will be quite different.
If you are looking for smaller object lifting aids or something like a hoist/ lifting machine, have you seen an Occupational Therapist recently? They would be able to help you source (and possibly find funding) for equipment that might help. If you are looking for a hoist or lifting machine it will be important to get input form a therapist. You can speak with your Gp about your eligibility for the chronic conditions management treatment plan. If you are eligible, it will entitle you to 5 sessions of allied health therapy, such as an Occupational Therapist) at a Medicare rebated rate. There will still be an out of pocket cost, but it will be a lower cost than paying privately. You can speak with your Gp about a recommended Occupational Therapist, or you can search for your own here.
Depending on the type of lifting equipment you are looking for, you might also like to look at Askned, Australia’s national equipment database. You can find their website here or here for pick up aids.
If you are looking for major farming equipment, you might have to try some of the more specialised companies such as silvan or Trade Farm Machinery. We cannot recommend these as not our speciality but they might be of some help.
If you let us know exactly what you are looking for, hopefully there will be others on EnableMe who have something that they use that they can recommend. We have an amazing community here.
You are also very welcome to give us a call or email on StrokeLine and we can speak with you in more detail about what you are looking for. Give us a call on Ph. 1800 787 653, or our email address is strokeline@strokefoundation.org.au . We are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Kind regards
