I found one the hardest things during recovery for my dad is loss of close friends when people realise that it is not straight forward speech/read /writing to him because of the effects, even though his health, knowledge and understanding remain the same. I am looking to help other people affected by stroke to help them and make friends for my dad.
Does your Dad attend any local stroke support groups?

Hi Diana,
Sorry for the extremely late reply, he goes to group speech therapy sessions and social groups but not stroke support as such. Do you have any you would recommend?
I know there is one in Perth city run once a month for an hour or so I think but I havnt made it there yet.

You can also have a chat with the WA office about suggestions if that suits. We have an office in Perth - I can ask them who the best person is to speak to.
