Goodbye My Clot

So there I was, sitting in a wheelchair outside a treatment room for my clot dissolving. And what did I do: I fainted due to the excess of electrical traffic between brain hemispheres due to stroke brain damage.

I don’t know how long I was out to it, but I guess three or four days. I awoke on a treatment trolley with leads, tubes, and cannulas being removed. I was stabilised, which is official for my life had been saved. Thank you team.

The discharge papers tell us what happened.

Thrombolysis with alteplase uncomplicated.

Then followed shoulder, elbow, and wrist movement measurement all below normal. So too the leg.

It was a blueprint for therapy which did not happen.

A list of some 13 medicines started, stopped, or changed, requiring many medical specialists, kept me going.

I missed the three day limit for upper limb treatment, but my right hand has taken over writing outies.
