Hey Rach,

Oh, he is beautiful, Buddy has very intelligent eyes. I can't wait to hear more about your adventures.

Is he a trained companion dog, or did you find him yourself.

If he is a trained companion dog, I would love to hear about the process, as it may help other people to get one.

If not, where did you find your fella?

Hi Diana,

He is a rescue dog but has been very well trained and loved. He isn't a trained companion dog, but he does make a good companion.

I also got him at the RSPCA after I saw his profile on their website.

I wanted an older dog as it is hard to find time to train a dog for me. He has defiantly been a good pick for me over all and I have been very lucky.

Congratulations Rach you have no doubt fallen in love with Buddy. Buddy will be great company for you. You can tell him all your problems, and he will never judge you, he will only return you love and bond to you. I love the way the tails wags the eyes look at you and excitement when you comeback home to greet you.

Hi Rach,

Congrats for getting a rescue dog & not going to a breeder. Older dogs are usually over the toilet training & chewing that pups go through. I've had quite a few over the years & now have a male Foxy & female Jack Russell (from a reputable breeder when she needed a home). I also wanted another voice in the house so got an Indian Ringneck parrot, albino & super smart. The 3 of them give me a reason to get out of bed in the morning but the love I get from all 3, yes the parrot likes a cuddle too, is priceless.🐕🐕‍🦺🕊

The companion dogs have several tests to pass before being allowed to accompany their owners in places like shopping centres, buses & planes (I think rules are changing about planes though?) I think you can use your own dog or rescue dog? I think it's a government department that deals with companion dogs but not sure.

There are dogs that aid disabled people by picking up dropped things or opening doors & more. But this is a long training process.

He always listens....ok, not so when a ball enters the equation. Pound pup 10 years ago, getting a bit slower and arthritic ... but still a happy chappy. Don't underestimate the power of a good companion.

Rach, I posed Buddy on FB - OM, you should see all the dogs!

Including another Buddy to tried to save jenny's life by not letting her leave the house. It's like he knew she was going to have a stroke.

I recently decided to get a dog for companion. I grew up with dogs as a kid and loved them all. I have now had Buddy for 2 weeks and it has been the best decision I have made.

He is 7 years old and a rescue dog. He has been very well trained and looked after. He keeps me on my toes especially on a walk.

I will defiantly have to take him again. Hear are just a few photos of our first 2 weeks together.
