It is well known in neuro therapy circles that upper limb therapy must be given within three days after stroke to avoid paralysis.
Now, three days is 72 hours, and the problem could be solved by giving the physios access of four half hours to care for the patient in the first three days and unrestricted access thereafter.
Any hospital C.E.O would probably agree that this is reasonable treatment. Is it still a problem? Six months ago at the gym, a physio said she was not able to get to the patients, even though she was employed by the hospital.
I wonder if anyone in the stroke industry has discussed the problem with the stroke teams. The solution is in their hands.
