Today I posted this to my Facebook Page. Incredible that National Stroke Week occurs on the Anniversary of my stroke in 2018.

2 years ago this coming Tuesday I suffered the first major stoke in this very rare illness I have. It took my eyesight. My speech. My abilty to walk, talk, read a clock and so much more I can't explain it here. It has been, and still is a constant struggle, but i have regained most of it back, kept my life, my family, my home and even my job.

In a freaky coincidence, Monday marks the start of National Stroke Week. There are things you can do to help protect yourself, your family and friends/colleagues. I wouldn't have wished this experience on anyone and I do not want you to go through it. Please check this site out, read the material, and don't take anything for granted. Just a couple of minutes of time can save so much. Value what you have now, but remember that you have more power to heal and recover than you may realise. This is such wonderful news. It must have been a long hard road to get to where you are today.

My Dad suffered a stroke 7 months ago and is still unable to communicate with us very well due to his Aphasia.

He is 83 and the stroke was the left part of his brain. I wonder which your stroke was?

It makes me feel hopeful reading your story. Thanks for posting.

Hello Marnie, My stroke was on the right side I believe as most of the physical effects were associated with my left sides (visual neglect etc) Most of the pain and believe that actual stroke was across the back of the head next to the Thalamus, hence the damage to my visual senses.
