Hi, I am a stroke survivor (thought I was having my second TIA but turned out to be a stroke with scarring on the front part of my brain). I feel okay now, but it took time to feel better. The problem that I am having is that my hands are going numb during the night. This has been going on for weeks (on Crestor statin for cholesterol and it has decreased from 7.9 to 4.1), and causes disturbed sleep.
If anyone has any suggestions about the numbness please share with me. thanks : )

Hi Linda

I get tingling and numbness in one arm/hand and find a remedial massage helps. Both the remedial masseuse and an osteo have commented on how tight the muscles in my right shoulder get and that when it's really bad how that shoulder sits higher than my left. Talk to you GP and see if they think it's worth seeing someone. Though I feel bruised the day of my treatments the nighttime relief makes it worth it.

Thank you for your response ... I have been wondering whether my back is out. No one else has responded about any other possibility, so I will look into this.

Just read this and had a similar problem which was a pinched nerve in the neck, after seeing a

physio, would get a massage by a masseur once a week, for 3 months and the problem was solved, hope this helps.

It pays to get second opinion as I also had numbness in my right hand, separate issue, which effected sleep and ended up having a carpel tunnel operation.

Sorry to hear about your stroke and the ongoing symptoms of numbness in the hands you're experiencing at night.

We would suggest you see your GP as soon as you can to have this reviewed. It could be a number of things that your GP can investigate and refer on as appropriate. If you experience any stroke signs please call 000 immediately. Here is some more information about signs of stroke.
