Well, it has been a good news week! I had a full eye examination at the optometrist and passed with flying colours. All vision and neurological tests came back with positive results. Another piece of good news involved my push for people to understand that not all strokes follow the FAST pattern - especially cerebellar strokes. To this end, I have written emails to both my area health coordinator and Ambulance NSW; both of whom contacted me this week. The area health coordinator has passed my concerns and the information that I supplied onto the Emergency Department that initially treated me and they are now including it in their training program. An educational officer from Ambulance NSW also contacted me and has decided to include my experiences as well as the video and web sites I supplied in the training courses they conduct on a regular basis. She is also going to pass on my experience and subsequent diagnosis onto the paramedics who attended me. At last I feel as though my message is getting out there - that rare strokes do exist and don't always follow the FAST pattern plus, 'vertigo' is NOT a diagnosis . . . it is a symptom.
