Well folks I've gotten really brave and I'm off on a longish (3 weeks) solo trip. Going cruising around the Mediterranean. Not much point doing this if I'm not up to the walking on the shore trips. And lots of the shore excursions have warnings about "not suitable for people with walking difficulties" Which is mostly about walking on cobbles, loose stuff under foot and so on. I'm planning to be stupid ( I hope no one is surprised by that) But I'm also undertaking a planned progression of training to be as ready for this as I can be. We've got 4 months to prepare and my mobility trainer is setting up the plan. Last night at my regular weekly session she tested me on 10 minutes of continuous pattern walking on/over the rope ladder, which means I have to pick up my feet and place them cleanly so as not to move the rope. It's hard work but quite doable. We can build up to 45 minutes in my studio sessions and she's devising all sorts of obstacle courses I can see that glint in her eye. She's also going to give me home work with hills and gravel and stuff like that. So wish me luck and I'll report back at regular interals
