Stroke Survivors are an ingenious gang. Well versed in overcoming adversity.
They are not going to let a stroke prevent them from preparing their favourite food; use a special chopping board to cut vegetables or even how they sharpen a carving knife with one hand.
Before we see these amazing people, let’s hear from Julie Davey, a fellow Stroke Survivor and a member of I-REBOUND’s Consumer Advisory Group who outlines the objective of Hints and Hacks on I-REBOUND.

Bev shares the gadgets she uses in her kitchen.
Watch Bev talk about how she uses a trolley in her kitchen and devices which are useful when you have use of one hand. Bev also talks about how can carers assist her and other topics which are of interest to Stroke Survivors.
Brooke explains how “smart devices’ help.manage fatigue after her Stroke.
Brooke demonstrates by using a ‘smart device’ she is able to can manage fatigue after her stroke. This device is easy to use with mobility impairments.
Clive demonstrates a chopping board with spikes.
A chopping board with spikes can be handy in the kitchen and Clive has become quite deft at using it. As he explains it can be used to secure an onion or a potato.
Sharpening your knife using one hand
Clive demonstrates two different knife sharpeners which are ‘one arm friendly’.
Separating eggs with one hand.
Clive demonstrates a gadget he uses to separate eggs with one hand.
A smart water bottle can help.increase the amount of water you drink.
Brook utilises a smart water bottle [it is user friendly for a stroke survivor]and it is easy to monitor with a phone app. She suggests you set up reminders to achieve your daily goal.
The challenges that Brooke, Clive, Bev and Julie have faced and, in many cases, ultimately overcame in their daily lives are worthy of your respect and admiration-they are examples of human generosity of the highest order.

The Genesis of I-REBOUND
The I-Rebound website has been developed by the Stroke Foundation and the University of Newcastle and co-designed with Stroke Survivors. It has been designed to reduce the risk of subsequent strokes by providing resources for eating well and moving more.
Professor Coralie English. University of Newcastle, who provides sage and strategic leadership to the I-REBOUND Project explains the objectives of this truly unique initiative. The website was funded by the Stroke Foundation (using funds from the Nancy & Vic Allen Stroke Prevention Memorial Fund Grant\}.
