I will talk from my own personal experience with stroke and the first few days as each persons experience can be different.
In the first few days of my stroke went by in a rush of medical team meetings to talk about my care, family meetings to inform my family of the medical I can expect to receive during my stay in hospital and the possible outcome of my recovery.
Then there is the financial side of things with the family organising my financial affairs, contacting my employer and notifying them that I will not be returning to work for medical reason (thankfully they understood and help my position until I was medically cleared) utility companies, banks etc to inform them of the situation and if I can have everything put on hold if not extended for a period of time. Then there was the family trying to organise financial help by applying for the Disability Support Pension and a Carers Pension.
The first few days are tough because it is near impossible to even think about recovery as you have so many emotions, so many thoughts but it is important to take it one day at a time and on step at a time to the light at the end of the tunnel.
