Local Councils
Most Councils have leisure centres offering a wide range of facilities and classes, sometimes with discounts for seniors and health care card holders. Community centres are another option, with low cost walking groups, yoga and tai chi classes.
Community Health Centres
Community health centres can be a great option if you have a health care card, and if you have health problems or disabilities that mean you need more support to get active. Many offer exercise classes and groups, often led by physiotherapists or exercise physiologists.
Availability of community health centres varies across Australia. You can find out if you have one in your area by Googling the name of your suburb and the words ‘community health centre’.
Heart Foundation Walking
Heart Foundation Walking groups walk at various times and days, covering various distances. If you do not live near a group or would rather walk on your own, you can join online to track your progress.

As the name suggests, parkrun organise weekly runs in parks. They are free and open to everyone. parkrun encourage people of every ability to get involved.
