Hello everyone,
It's been awhile since I have come on the enableme website and despite of how crazy the world seems to be at the moment, I hope everyone is doing well.
It's going to be four years in July since my stoke and I can say I am doing well. I have travelled overseas a couple of times in the past few years and I got involved in a weight loss challenge which resulted in myself losing 11.2 kilos, I was very proud of myself. 'Remaining positive' has been my motto. Although I need a walking stick to get around, I have managed to walk around the block several times a week. This has helped me both mentally and physically but I would like to hear of people's alternatives to walking, that can help me at home.
I am able to drive now, although my left hand and arm is still not active, I use a driving knob.
I had two incidents where I was asked "why I was parking at the disabled parking, despite my disabled parking sticker clearly being displayed on the front windscreen of my car. The lady who asked me was very rude, I ignored her and decided that she's just having a bad day, or that she's run out of toilet paper. The other ordeal was with a guy who walked straight up to my car and told me I have no right to park in the disabled parking. I believe it's because my disability isn't that visible, unless I walk, people think they have the right to make judgement, or I was just out on the wrong day.
I would love to hear of what exercises people are doing at home to help them? during this isolation period?
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well at the moment during this lockdown period and do check up on others to see how they are by giving them a call. Looking forward to hearing your ideas
