Stroke Foundation has launched a powerful new vision and strategy to 2027, one that will drive meaningful change in the fight against stroke. Our mission remains unshakable: to prevent strokes, save lives, and ensure every survivor has the support they need to enhance recovery.
As part of the consultation process of Strategy 2027: Stronger Together, we listened to our community and changed our vision to better represent where we needed to focus our efforts to:
- Fewer strokes
- Better outcomes
- Support and care for all
Strategy 2027: Stronger Together sets out an ambitious path forward, aligning with national health priorities to achieve real, measurable improvements in stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery. By 2027, we aim to:
- Reduce strokes by tackling modifiable risk factors like high blood pressure and increasing public awareness.
- Improve outcomes by ensuring equitable access to world-class stroke treatment, no matter where you live.
- Enhance support and care by expanding access to vital rehabilitation services and community-based programs.
This new strategy builds on the remarkable achievements of Strategy 2024, which transformed stroke care across Australia. Together, we:
- Launched and advanced our Young Stroke and Childhood Stroke Projects, with special launch of our first Childhood Stroke Week in 2024
- Collaborated with key stroke clinicians to develop and launch the 30/60/90 National Targets and Stroke Unit Certification program to improve care standards nationwide
- Released the Economic Impact of Stroke Report, providing solid evidence base and case for urgent government action
- Delivered our first Reconciliation Plan, committing Stroke Foundation to culturally safe practices
- Celebrated the incredible people who contribute to the stroke community through our Annual Stroke Awards
- Launched the My Stroke Journey resources in 8 languages, ensuring more survivors and families can access vital supports
- Co-designed our new Aphasia Handbook with those who understand it best - people living with aphasia
- Continue to champion Australia’s stroke researchers through grants to seek innovative breakthroughs and discoveries
- Provided personalized support to tens of thousands of survivors, families and carers through StrokeLine, and connecting survivors with the help and supports they need most.
Every resource, project, and initiative represents countless stories of hope and resilience. We couldn't do any of this without YOU - our community of survivors, families, carers, advocates, donors and supporters.
