Negotiating friendship with words and sharing these with others became an obsession and turned into a determined passion. I think that it was and can still be quite difficult, this effort at holding normal conversations. However the thing that hit me the hardest was the lack of knowledge in everyday talks about Aphasia. I found this aspect of Aphasia very unnerving and unsettling. It was like you could look at the normal every day conversations but yours got overlooked as now you were in the team that had Aphasia and Aphasia could not be heard. So I turned to writing about Aphasia and Stroke: My first book self published in 2014 was a short collection of poems titled : Two fat wives Please, Knowing Aphasia and Dyspraxia. This book sold over 175 copies and received a lot of positive feedback and support.
as time progressed my humour started to return and took the form of a comic book about Aphasia. This book was launched in Nov 2014 and titled: Not Quite George, In Conversations with Aphasia.
Now to my third book: Shades of Grey, White and 90% Myth, Brain Matters, In discourse with Aphasia. This book is also a comic style conversations with Aphasia and brain matters as I understand them. The intent is to make way for Aphasia to reach out into the big wide world.
