I recently had to renew my first aid certificate and was horrified that even though the F.A.S.T meanings are written in the work book at no time during the 3 hours of face to face teaching were the stroke symptoms or responses to a suspected stroke mentioned.
When filling out the work book questions/answers there was one question in relation to stroke. As one of the biggest killers in Australia I would have thought it should get a mention. Most of the course was in relation to heart attack and allergies.
Am I missing something here. Coming up to Stroke week where we are being asked to make sure that everyone knows about FAST. I would have thought that First Aid courses would be a perfect place to start getting the knowledge out there.
