My partner Yvonne and I discovered three things on our holiday in Austria: the food is very rich in flavour and delicious, we are both bad with heights and we love Nordic Walking.
Nordic walking is where you walk with two adjustable poles for support and a good stable pair of walking boots. Not only was it great fun, it turned out to be great for my stroke recovery too.
I feel much more stable walking with the Nordic poles, and my confidence has increased dramatically - I feel like I have a new lease on life.
Nordic walking has been great for keeping my weight in check, and helping me take more challenging walks, including up and down hills. I found that this activity has helped build my strength and has got me out more.
If you find it difficult to walk and don’t want to use walking sticks or crutches, I recommend Nordic Poles as an option.
My next stop is England, where I will spend time with my daughter and her fiancé. Yvonne has gone home, so I am flying solo.
