How's everyone going with the arrival (sort of) of winter? I'm someone who really detests hot weather and would prefer cooler weather so the last month or so hasn't been too bad with the temperate weather. But now it's cooling down and I've been so busy the last few weeks I'm not quite prepared for the cold!
I haven't yet got my winter clothes out of the space bags in the wardrobe, I can't find my winter slippers and I've left my fingerless gloves out in the car (and there's no way I'm venturing out there to get them at 5am!). In desperation I put on a regular pair of gloves, and it just wasn't working. I couldn't turn the pages of the book, couldn't grip a pen and it was more of a hinderance than a help - cold fingers was a small price to pay for getting study done.
You might be asking yourself why I was up at 5am on a Saturday...trust me I'm asking myself the same question! Because I chose to take on a 4 week teaching block, and added to that the million medical appointments (and the sinus infection from hell! 6 weeks I kid you not), I've gotten behind with my uni studies. I find that if I get up early I'm far more productive than if I leave it until the afternoon after work. My brain works better and I understand more of what I'm reading.
So with a warm cup of tea at my elbow, thick socks and dressing gown, heater on, I bravely march on with learning the difference between controlled vocabularies and natural language approaches to searching for information!
One. More. Week. Then I can read what I want again!!
