Thrill Seekers and Fellow Time Traveler's, this headline seems an appropriate and timely way of introducing the subject/theme of today’s message.
For those of you who are unaware, we are in the middle of the Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne and the day after the Melbourne Cup- “the race that stops a nation”
I digress-Following my Stroke, I became aware of each component in sequrnce.as I will outline as follows-
Stroke Clinicians- I was unaware of the 00’s, no 000’s of clinicians who engage in research and study worldwide, all with the same objective- to create through their collective efforts, energy, and infinite thirst for knowledge a stroke free world.
Respect to each and every one, I declare.
Stroke Survivors – the 000’s of people of all ages, socio-economic groups, ethnic groups who are directly impacted by stroke each year \{in Australia 419,000 in 3020\}. These survivors \{an apt nomenclature\} who are faced with overwhelming challenges to their recovery, but those who are able in their stoic manner and with the aid of skilled carers and clinicians embark on what is a perpetual rehab journey.
Whilst these survivors undertake their very personal and individualistic journey they can, and many do perform an important- no VITAL role in Stroke Research as they are able to provide their Lived Experience.
And that Fellow Stroke Survivors
is The Glorious Trifecta.
You have the opportunity to assist these researchers and clinicians in a unique manner.
Only you as a Stroke Survivor can gives these insights.
Your input in the’ icing on the knowledge cake,’
so I as a Stroke survivor urger you to get involved. It is very satisfying and is part of my “Giving Back” strategy, where I am repaying all those people who helped me!
Your knowledge/ insights will be welcomed, respected, and valued.
How do you get involved?
Contact the Stroke Foundation of Australia and enquire about any research projects that require Stroke Survivors to participate- They will be pleased to help you achieve your ambition.
