A respected stroke clinician recently remarked that without lived‑experience input, his research would amount to little more than personal conjecture, past studies, and anecdotal evidence supporting his hypotheses.
He went further—paraphrasing his words—“I simply could not, and would not, submit my research without the insights of stroke survivors
They have endured the drama, the challenges, and at times the fear that comes with a stroke. They are the only ones who have truly walked that road.”

I never—yes, my English teacher would be rolling in his grave at the absolutism—turn down an opportunity to share my lived experience with clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders.
It is both a privilege and a responsibility I carry willingly
