The Power of Your Inner Voice in your Rehab.
As many of you know, my stroke has been a life‑changing experience, and my recovery continues to teach me things I never expected.
One of the most powerful—and often overlooked—aspects of this journey has been my inner voice: the quiet, constant dialogue that shapes how I cope, adapt, and keep moving forward.
I’ve come to realise that this inner voice can either support recovery or make it more challenging. Learning to understand and work with it has become an important part of my rehabilitation, alongside the physical and clinical aspects you’re all so familiar with.
I wanted to share some reflections on this, as I believe it adds a meaningful dimension to how we think about stroke recovery—both from a personal and a professional perspective.
I’ve also put together a blog, The Power of Your Inner Voice, which is based on my Lived Experience, which I hope may be of use to other stroke survivors navigating their own rehabilitation journey.
