Poetry has been an influential part of my expression to connect with and feel all the unsaid moments from life after stroke. The moments of:
Success
Failure
Grief
Enthusiasm
Frustration
Confusion
Awareness
and so much more. In between trying I regrouped, reassessed, rested and tried again.
So for everyone who knows what it's like living in a body that somehow doesn't work the way it did before your stroke, I get it. I wrote this poem in about 2017, my stroke was in 1993. Seems so long ago - and I am still changing/improving/reassessing because I keep trying.
I TRIED
I tried, and it worked
I tried and it.......didn't work
I tried and was ignored
I tried and was called inspirational
I tried and was laughed at
I tried and was lifted up
I tried and was nervous
I tried and was contented
I tried and was confused
I tried and was relieved
I tried and
I tried again.
