Direct Questions

I opened an old manila folder full of articles I wrote and many more by others. As I did, I thought about other peoples’ writings, to show the value of direct speech.

Example, a senior nurse was giving me a shower when she walked out without a word. I was left wet and cold. I could have complained, and she could have said she was sorry -END-

Instead, I said “Where have you been”. I had no authority for this demand, but she was a reasonable person, so she told me. Which led to a change in shower routines.

So, a good example of a direct question leading to a solution, details of which are somewhere in print.
