I did a blog yesterday on chronic fatigue post stroke and given the impact fatigue clearly has on so many post stroke and my experience 25 years ago with cfs l feel it important that l blog on.
i got up early this morning and struggling with what my bank employer now wants l decided l would try to make it easier on my brain. I do home loans for people and having done it for many years l had my performance down pat. Bank lending is now under the spotlight by APRA (government). They think they can run banks better than banks can run themselves, which is mystifying given that most of our politicians don’t know whether they are Australian citizens.
Anyway l could go on for ages why governments shouldn’t try and run banks, but my point is that because they are trying to, the amount of extra paperwork and process has meant that I need to write a new script for my performance.
Not so easy post stroke. I try to think of all the extra things l need to know say and do due to APRA and for each customer and my brain goes into shutdown and fatigue hits. I am fortunate as l can pass much of this to my support staff. That said customers trust me and want to meet with me which is humbling. Just today 3 want to catch up next week.
This is daunting to a post stroke guy but l need to try.
So this morning l went back to basics and rewrote my performance, new forms -many new forms and cleared the emails. Finished around 11 but was severally fatigued. Laid on the floor for a few minutes then up and outside. I didn’t get to the gym today but instead moved 1 metre of rocks and 4 metres of dirt with my wife, helping our neighbors. Again, like yesterday, the chronic fatigue was gone and as l worked the body the muscular fatigue built and it felt magnificent.
Will bow out now as buggered but not chronically fatigued..
