My husband had a stroke on the 21st January 2016.
He was a strong independent man before the stroke, he was taking medications for high blood pressure once a day and gave up smoking 6mths previous to the stroke. However on the thursday morning I was in bed and heard my husband struggle to open the curtain in the dining room, after a few minutes I got up and found him standing however his right arm and leg was week and he had a droop to the mouth and was talking but difficult to understand he seemed a little confused. I rang the ambulance they came and said its probably a TIA but we will take hime to the ED.
By the time he arrived to hospital he had complete paralysis of his right side and unable to speak.
Our lives changed for ever at that moment
He has come along way from the man that couldn't even sit upright and swallow, however he struggles to see much change in himself.
