My whole game plan is to get back on 2 wheels..... well I guess this is a start...... a little humbling, to say the least but, it is what it is.
She started life in a factory somewhere in China, then stared as a prop for an advertising campaign, all dressed up with flowers, flashing lights and unique colour scheme, stored for 5 years, I came along, cheap as chips, ready to give it a new lease of life.
A bit of cleaning, airing the tyre's, oil on the chain, shedding a bit of weight and she's right to go.
The shake down test was quite interesting, my unresponsive right side was not having a bar of this, especially my right heel, mind of its own...... another unexpected use for gaffa tape.
Our local lagoon is home to a fantastic, relatively flat, bike track, with the usual navigation hazards like the natural flora and fauna, kids (also learning to ride), prams and fitness fanatics.
Thank God for SUV's, the bike just fitted, together with my tools, walker, my carer and his e-scooter.
We forgot the gaffa...... ratchet tie down, rubber bands or a roll of bright red electrical tape.
With my foot bound to the pedal by many wraps of sparky tape, I was ready to fulfil my 1st goal of grabbing a coffee from the cafe 4km in, before it closed. The coffee would have to wait, who closes a cafe at 2pm? So, made it that far, why not just complete the 8.5km circuit (note for next time, the second section is unpaved, rocky, undulating and a PITA). Wow, the last 2km were something, I was cooked. Maybe I bit off more than I could chew, talk about setting a benchmark.
Made it back to the car on the hour and back home for some well deserved R&R. We can do it peeps.
