Dear All, I was away in India for the past three weeks and now back in Sri Lanka. I was on pilgrimage to the venerated places of Buddha the Enlightened One.
The self or I is a formation made of the 6 touch agencies of eye, ear, tongue, nose, body and mind. The touch-agencies work where say eye meets form there arises eye-consciousness. The three that of form-perception, eye and consciousness gives rise to touch and that in turn to feeling. The problem with I syndrome is to recognize this process as self when such a self is not there. Of course there is this somatic body but yet that too is not self and we leave it some day. The functions of the six agencies is that which creates this whirlpool of the consciousness & name/form in a spin. The illustrations that you have in the consciousness is the trouble and causes all the troubles. So the solution is to work to reach the state of non-illustrated consciousness the ultimate relief.
It is here the mindfulness meditation makes its mark. Mindfulness built over time prevents one from illustrating the consciousness leading to mind formation. Building mindfulness is the precursor to Insight development and total ending of this misery of stress, attrition, hatred, greed and delusion etc. Such a mind is always at peace and cannot be disturbed.
