Had a win this week!

I have found it very difficult since my stroke two and half years ago to find some shoes which allow me to wear my brace. The sandal in the photo were my only pair of shoes and the strap on them broke.

I took them to a shoe repair shop and I walked in with one pair of shoes to be repaired and three other pairs which my brace wouldn't allow me to wear.

An hour later I walked out with four pairs of wearable shoes!! So I now call myself Imelda Marcos.

I know this might not be a big deal for some, but for me it is heaven.

I have a question - can anyone suggest another type of brace that isn't so cumbersome?

Great news about your shoes!

As it has been more than two years since your stroke, it may be useful to have a physiotherapy review. As you are probably aware, Physiotherapists will give you advice about what is the most appropriate leg splint or brace. In your situation, they can review the current brace and advise whether there is another option. Physiotherapists will generally, trial and fit simple braces, however, an orthoptist will need to be involved for fitting a customised brace
