We often read and hear of mental stress as one key reason for heart ailments. What do the science say about it? Science says it can cause heart attacks, strokes, upset immune system, speed up ageing etc. it also says stress is about when you are under abnormal pressure and how you feel. But what is abnormal pressure? Is it about outside or inside? It is about inside. What is this abnormal pressure?
You see, the cycle of who we are has two things that lean on each other just like two bundles of bamboo. They are the consciousness and name & form. the name & form are that which illustrate your consciousness. If negative then you have stress. If positive then you are happy. What is name & form? Name is of five forces, feeling, perception, thoughts, contact and contemplation. Form is form-perception of all things that you take in with the six senses, sight, sound, smell, taste, touch and things. You can illustrate your consciousness with any of these. If the perception of illustration is negative then you have stress. How to come out?
That is with mindfulness meditation where you learn not to give value to anything. Supposing your husband gets angry and criticize the food prepared, then if you have developed mindfulness, you will not give value to it and let go. Same goes if wife says something bad, you just let go and not give value to it. This can happen be it in office, with friends, school or anywhere. With mindfulness meditation you learn not to give value to it but do what you can do to make others happy and that is your happiness too. May you all be free of stress and happy and healthy.
