This is my Story of My Stroke; and Post-Stroke; to date. December 2011 was a particularly eventual period and an ending of the Life as I knew it; The beginning of my new Life.
Post-Stroke has changed me, has changed my attitude to Life, ‘has opened my eyes ’to see so much more. The many things we tend to take as granted. Others view’s and perceptions are so far removed from our reality as happens with other’s traumatic experiences.
I encourage you, the reader, read this through, and share this Compilation with many, many others.
I have a lifetime of differing employment experiences, from working in Timber Mills to State Accounts Manager, training of years in the Martial Art’s, I felt it was the right time to ‘settle’ in home life,semi-retire, that is until December 2011, when I suffered devastating and nearly fatal Strokes. Strokes that rendered me without movement and unable to speak. A forecast of being permanently in a ‘vegative’ state and bed-bound, My journey demonstrates even the ‘expert’s’ can get it wrong. I hope the reading & sharing of this will motivate and give hope. This is my story of triumphs and sadness that inspires and hopefully helps, as you face the mental, emotional, and social challenges of this life shattering event as a Stroke Survivor.

Sitting here typing with one finger, yep one key at a time, and thinking how strange it has all ended up. Wonder where life will go from here? Life has given me many strange and adventurous experiences. Full of great, memorable, and very unmemorable times. My beautiful, loving wife, 2 great children, now adults, I am now retired, early at 51, with my lady, my wife, two cats, a dog, 4 chickens a large garden, our yard is now a garden, plants, flowers, scrubs and vegetables.
We moved to the country, ‘our cottage in the country’ we joke. It wasn't always this comfortable, though, plenty of ‘interesting’ pit stops along the way. I talk to people now, mostly health professionals, and I can see them thinking ‘’no way, he’s making it up’’. This is one of the reason’s I have finally decided to write my experiences. Varied it is, Good and Bad, Proud, Sad. It has been extremely interesting though, - different times, different culture, different way of thinking.
