Greetings, Thrill Seekers and Fellow Time Travellers
Today, I had the pleasure of meeting and engaging with Final Year Physiotherapy students at Newcastle University for the fourth consecutive year.
This opportunity was graciously extended by Ms. Kate Newton, Physiotherapy Industry Clinical Educator at the College of Health, Medicine, and Wellbeing School of Health Science, and Dr. Dawn Simpson, Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Newcastle.
During my presentation, I shared a PowerPoint detailing my Stroke Story, encompassing my life before and after the stroke, my rehabilitation journey, and the valuable insights and lessons I have gathered along the way.
The subsequent Q&A session, as always, sparked numerous thoughtful questions, reflecting the students' keen interest and curiosity.
Having participated in these sessions for over nine years, I consistently leave impressed by the calibre of these future clinicians.
It is a true privilege and a rewarding aspect of being a stroke survivor.
I am forever grateful to Associate Professor Simone Dorsch, who first introduced me to this activity in 2016. Her invitation to "talk to her students about your stroke" at the Australian Catholic University in 2017 set me on this fulfilling path.
Nine years and over 2,400 students later, I am still going strong and remain passionate about sharing my Lived Experience.
Brian A Beh- A Stroke Survivot.
