I'm seeking to know if anyone has been told they've had multiple strokes and didn't know? I had a significant stroke on 5 December and had the follow up appointment with my neurosurgeon 7 weeks later. He told me that the evidence on my mri noted I had had multiple strokes in the past; I did not know this. I have now been referred to a heart specialist as the neurosurgeon is concerned that clots may be developing in my heart and going into my brain, this is scarey news and I'm wondering if it's common?

Hi Lee

I am happy to pass on the name of a fellow survivor who's stroke was not picked up as his original need to see his Doctor - he has written a book about it David Roland - and the book is called How I rescued my Brain. It's a good read and goes pretty in depth about the total confusion David experienced while trying to make sense of what was going on for him.

"Lee I am not wanting to scare you further. What a shock for you to have news of multiple strokes.i would like to share my story as it has a positive outcome. Late last year I experienced multiple strokes. After visits to my neurologist and cardiologist I was diagnosed with a hole in my heart that was thought to be the cause of strokes. Such a shock, that took time to absorb that news. 4 weeks ago I had the closure done through my groin. I live in Tasmania so the closure was done in Melbourne. I am recovering really well and have some peace of mind re further strokes. Jenny"
