I have seen this term used by neurologists to gauge the success of alternative clot busting treatments as if the term needed no explanation.

But who knows what it means, and who enjoys it? Not me, not Ted, or any of the one handed S.A.P.s who missed early upper limb treatment in the first three days after stroke. I won’t explain the limitations. If you don’t get it, don’t read on. It’s the job for the army of talented O.T.s to set us up and for an army of carers to keep us going. So if anyone has a definition of independent living and of its use let’s see it.
