Dementia is a mental disorder of processes caused by lack of brain health. Memory disorder, impaired reasoning, personality change are some of the results. Just as with Heart attacks, strokes even in this case Meditation both Mindfulness leading to Vipassana is a sure footed remedy. In my personal opinion those who meditate regularly are not prone to get Dementia. As per ABC latest data there are over 425,000 Dementia patients in Australia and could be higher as many are not registering for treatment. Meditation will power the brain cells to overcome the disease in even those who have got it at the early stages. Buddha often said that one of the most powerful things for us to lead a healthy life is Mindfulness in all our actions developed with Meditation.
