As we approach the Festive Season, I usually spend some of my time reflecting on the year that is about to pass from our present to my newly formed past.
My 2024 has been, I feel very fulfilling on both a personal and professional level. I would like to think that my actions and deeds have had a positive effect on my family and in a small way the outside world.
Particularly the external arena that is now the focus of most of my efforts - Stroke Advocacy.
This is a message to all my Stroke friends, you all are aware of whom I am addressing. Your friendship and fellowship is very special to me
My Christmas wish is that you are embraced by the Special Peace that abides within this Festive, Holiday Season.
May you have a Merry Christmas,A Safe, Prosperous New Year.
May it be a happy, relaxing time of the Year, with your friends and family.May 2025 be everything you wish it to be.
And May you never be too old to look up into the sky on Christmas Morning!
May there be Peace in The Holy Land.
As the Festive Season is approaching, I am going to feature in this epistle, my favorite piece of Christmas music- Silent Night, sung in German.
The following story from my FB page illustrates the special memories that this carol evokes.
“It was Christmas Eve 1968, and I was driving home down a deserted New England Highway, in my 65 HD Holden, late at night, alone, towards my home in Singleton for Christmas.I had not been home for 6 months.
I was tired after a full day in a sweltering teller's box in the Rural Bank,Quirindi - no air conditioning in those days. The full moon was like a giant saucer directly above my car.
I was listening to late night country music on 2MO Gunnedah, when suddenly the DJ broke into the music and breathlessly announced that Cape Canaveral had announced that the Apollo 8 capsule had just entered Lunar orbit.
Would you believe I strained my eyes and tried to locate it!!
I drove on into the darkness. Little did I realize that the coming year 1969 would be a watershed year in my life. I would travel overseas, meet some remarkably interesting people in the UK, attend an historical musical festival in upstate New York\{Woodstock\} ,and experience a personal loss that still haunts my memory to this day.
Enough introspection……
Six months later Neil Armstrong would walk on the surface of the moon!
Then back to the music on 2MO and this version of Silent Night came on…in German. Never heard it sung in that language before Have never forgotten that moment…after all those years. My Favorite carol. Enjoy
