So I do what I can when I can these days as time I have only my Fatigue and able ness holds me back….Yes Im Tougher than Gamba Grass and I’m everywhere ..
These days I Doo what I can to Support many with a Disability or another STROKE WARRIOR THATS HAD THE MISFORTUNE FOR BEEN STRUCK BY STROKE SOME REASON ..AN NOW HAS THE ADVENTURE TO NOW BATTLE ON WITH A NEW LIFE..
WE ARE MANY AN NUMBERS ARE CLIMBING AT AN UNEXPLAINABLE AMOUNT.
100 a day Australia wide Why is the question that hasn’t been answered..
I’m amongst Many as we travel up the mountain that’s been dropped in front of us..
I visit our hospitals regularly talking to the new members of this group Battling the new Track that’s growing daily ..
Many ask why or how I’m sorry an saddened by what’s ahead of them as many are over 65 an that’s a Tougher road for them as supports for them are Minimal .
Our Government-is aware of these numbers a the Costs to keep one in Hospital if there’s nowhere to go is around 3k a day as they really require a lot of care ..Butt this Government Previous Governments have there Blinkers on and STROKE numbers constantly climb daily…
I visit many Stroke patients of many Nationalities Stroke has no boundaries who where or age ,,Sadly when I see People from Communities who’ve had a STROKE they are lost as the language barrier is huge they are confused as why they cannot walk or move bodily parts or have lost there right to see it’s Sad and very overwhelming at times I think how lucky am I ..These People have such a huge road too travel as this Mountain is now in front of them …They just want to go home ..Butt there’s NO CARE OR ASSISTANCE for many either being age or Remoteness is against them…
Then I watch in AWE as our wonderful Nurses and Rehab staff battle day by day at times working Double Shifts as there’s not enough Members to carry on the duties required..Many VOLUNTEERS step in a Thank God for them the Wards are Busting at the Seems ..But these guys brush it off a Carry on …Meanwhile the Politicians Wave there Flyers a waltz around promoting a Promising Things that Really don’t Matter….Many STROKE PATIENTS AN FAMILYS RELY ON NDIS BUUT IF YOURE OVER 65 Your battle with any Disability is going too the biggest challenge in one’s life and the families……
We in the NT have minimal Supports or Rehabilitation Services and the Numbers are Growing Two Territorians a day a battling against STROKE AT PRESENT….
ALSO OUR REHABILITATION WARD AT PALMERSTON THAT HAS 24 BEDS 12 ARE STROKE PATIENTS..THE WARD IS FULL AND OVER A DOZEN MORE ARE AT OTHER TERRITORY HOSPITALS AWAITING PLACEMENT FOR REHABILITATION AN CARE ……
THE FEDERAL AN LOCAL GOVERNMENT HAVE MINIMAL INPUTS TOWARD STROKE AUSTRALIA WIDE ..AS THE STROKE FOUNDATION DOES MORE THAN ANY OF THESE GOVERNMENTS….THIS IS ACTUALLY ACHIEVED BY DONATIONS ONLY ….SO PLEASE IF YOU SEE NURSES OR ANYONE TRYING TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE STROKE FOUNDATION PLEASE DONATE..
WE HAVE SOME GREAT NURSES TRYING TO DO WHAT THEY CAN TO SUPPORT STROKE IN THE NT PLEASE GET BEHIND THEM AS YOU OR ANY OF YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS COULD BE NEXT….
I DO WHAT I CAN WITH BOOKS I WRITE SHIRTS I SELL AND CAN COOLERS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE STROKE FOUNDATION THIS YEAR ONE OF OUR LOVELY NURSES KAY STEVEN’S IS WALKING 76 KS TO RSISE MONEY FOR THE FOUNDATION..This Wonderful Nurse is Retiring soon she’s given 41 years too Nursing Most in the NT …Butt after she’s having her long deserved break Kay is actually coming back an Volunteering in helping out With her fellow workers quite unbelievable but as she knows an has explained we here in the Top End need more Staff More Facilities to Help Territorians Recover…
I’m only one person but I battle with the POLLIES AND DINT HOLD BACK
We need a Proper Stroke Ward and the staff an equipment to go with it ..There’s plenty of Land at the Palmerston Hospital to do this ….
The Pollies need to Step up We don’t need Fishing Clubs we don’t need more coin spent at Hidden Valley or any where else …
Our population is getting older and Disabled numbers are Rising Think about it YOU COULD BE NEXT……LYING IN A HALL WAY AWAITING CARE ….
Thankfully there’s a great Team we have that go above and beyond in our Hospitals Public and Private and do not get enough Recognition….So this May Support Kay Stevens Raising Funds for the Stroke Foundation…..
