A Webinar
The Brain that Changes.
Neuroplasticity and Stroke Rehabilitation’
When Research and Lived Experience shared the digital on-line spotlight.
Last night, \{17 May 2023\} I had the privilege to be, alongside my fellow Stroke Survivor, Stephanie Ho, a panellist on StrokeEd’s Free Webinar
“The Brain that Changes. Neuroplasticity and Stroke Rehabilitation’.
The Webinar’s aim was to provide a clearer understanding of Neuroplasticity, discuss the research, and how to apply these Principles for a more successful stroke recovery.
The host and moderator will be Dr. Simone Dorsch, a noted Stroke Educator [Senior Lecturer. Australian Catholic
University\} and a Director of StrokeEd, a leading Australian Stroke Collaborative. Dr. Dorsch regularly conducts
workshops in U.K., Asia, and South America and is highly regarded as a leading researcher/educator in the Stroke
The host and moderator of this Webinar was Dr. Simone Dorsch, a noted Stroke Educator [Senior Lecturer. Australian Catholic University\} and a Director of StrokeEd, a leading Australian Stroke Collaborative.
Dr. Dorsch regularly conducts workshops in U.K., Asia, and South America and is highly regarded as a leading researcher/educator in the Stroke World.
Over 200 clinicians, stroke survivors and their families tuned from around the world and the breadth and depth of the questions \{from my POV\} at the end of the Webinar clearly indicated an extraordinary level of interest and engagement.
Areas, in part covered by Simone included the Principles of Neuroplasticity; research findings, whilst Steph and I spoke about Active Task Practise, intensity of practise and repetition.
We both spoke at length about the importance of engagement and relevance of the various rehab routines.
All wrapped in our “Blankets of Lived Experiences”.
Steph brought out her amazing videos which showed how far she has progressed in her rehab, while I proudly displayed my charts recording my walking and integration of my rehab into my daily life
Neuroplasticity and Lived Experience in action!
The Webinar went over time by 30 minutes, we could have gone on for at least another hour such was the interest and engagement level of our worldwide audience.
As I have stated many times, a true perk of being a Stroke Survivor!
