Design Your Own Rehab -A Discussion for Stroke Survivors
This unique webinar will feature Stroke Survivors sharing their Lived Experiences as they undertake the task of designing their own rehab programs, plus they will be joined by a physiotherapist who will discuss exercise prescription.
Among the topics to be discussed will be the main features of exercise for different purposes - what is important for improving balance, strength or improving your ability to do a specific task such as walking.
About the StrokeEd Collaboration
Established in 2011, the StrokeEd collaboration is an Australian registered company and education provider. Members of the collaboration offer evidence-based workshops and lectures to improve the skills, knowledge and practice of rehabilitation therapists, and influence the delivery of rehabilitation services to stroke survivors.
Our Webinar Moderator – Associate Professor Simone Dorsch
Simone is a physiotherapy clinician, researcher and international renowned educator. She has more than 30 years’ experience in stroke, brain injury and aged care rehabilitation.
Simone is a Director of the StrokeEd collaboration and an Associate Professor at the Australian Catholic University in North Sydney.
Our Stroke Survivors - Stephanie Ho
After surviving a severe stroke at 22 years of age, Stephanie has committed her life to improving the healthcare system and easing the burden for other survivors.
She currently serves as an Executive Board Member for NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation and is a regular keynote speaker on the topic of stroke and the impact of rehabilitation from a consumer perspective.
Stephanie was recognised for her work in 2019 by the National Stroke Foundation.
Our Stroke Survivors - Emma Gee
At the age of 24 Emma was an occupational therapist and an avid runner who had recently climbed Borneo’s Mt Kinabalu. When she suffered a stroke, her life was changed forever.
As a health professional, Emma offers a rare insight into life as a patient and an advocate and emerges with a uniquely sensitive perspective.
Our Stroke Survivors = Thomas Graham
Thomas survived an ischemic stroke at age 66, in 2023, causing loss of mobility to his right sided limbs. He follows a diverse exercise program, focused on the physical tasks of daily life, for restoring and maintaining his functional mobility to achieve independent living.
His message, to help other survivors, is about Practice, Pace Patience, Persistence and Playfulness. His early post stroke experience is captured in his book, 'Let’s go for a walk rebuilding body, mind and spirit after a stroke'.
Our Stroke Survivors -Brian A. Beh
Brian sustained a stroke at 68 years old in 2016. Initially after his stroke, he had 0/5 strength in his right side, weakness on the right side of his face and a feeding tube in his right nostril.
Nine years on he has integrated rehab into his daily life, walks between 12-15 kms a day, 7 days a week and has regained partial use of his right arm and hand.
Brian is heavily engaged in stroke advocacy and participates in numerous research projects, webinars and other stroke related activities both in Australia and the UK.He is listed as a co-author on five research papers.
Over the last nine years Brian has spoken to over 2,500 student clinicians at Universities in Australia and the UK.
Brian was recognised for his work in 2021 by the National Stroke Foundation and was appointed an Honorary Consumer Fellow of The George Institute for Global Health in 2025.He was the Inaugural Chair of the George's Consumer and Community Advisory Group.
