Hi its now 4months since stroke and experiencing lots of numbness and stiffness on right side with vague pain also and more stihhness and sensations moving more on my stroke side! Has anyone else had this experience.? Also my psyhio and gym not as regular as i would like! Could going back to swimming and using rowing help this numbness etc. ?

I've just had a stroke on my right side, 2 weeks ago and I was wandering when I'd be able to go back to gym and just even exercising for that matter. How were you able to get back into it so quickly and has it been helpful getting back so early? Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi lizzy, sorry to hear about your stroke!i was in the new rah then transferred tothe daws road repat and theygave me me gym and psyhio immediately! Ask your gp to set up a plan and get you admitted to a rehab facility asap and also swimming to build up strength and movement!i was then outpatient at the qeh also. What state r u in? I am in adelaide. Have you movement and strength still? Gym certainly has helped with my strength and psyhio for balance and i am definitely wanting to continue also with swimming as this helped me!
Thank you Lyn, yes that's definitely helped. I still have strength in my right arm and leg although slightly less than the left. I saw my GP today but forgot to ask about that. I'll do that next visit. Swimming sounds perfect for me at this time, while I wait to have surgery (to close my holes in my heart), but I will ask about that. I'm in Queensland. I find myself questioning every unfamiliar sensations and wander if I'm on the way to having another stroke have you found yourself doing the same?

Hi lizzy received your feed.i dont know what to expect as my pins and needlesand stiffness are moving throughout right side am going to pursue swimming gym and psyhio more but hopr brain is moving! Every dayis different and i am hoping acupunture will relieve me of the sensations as they are very very upsetting. Ask your doctor and maybe see a neurologist for more answers?.. nobody really knows as we are all different. Take care.

Keeping active and moving is really important in recovery but in addition you may also benefit from a more targeted approach to your sensory changes.
