Hello World! It’s me, Kat. I’m still here and I’m still alive. Just thought you’d like to know.
The last time I was here, Sydney was under a “temporary” stay-at-home order… that turned into 17 weeks of lockdown and a hasty reopening that has ended in the mess we are now in. Remote library was … interesting… I was asked to take on two English classes, was making wellbeing calls to families, writing policy, constructing a library website, running remote study tutorials, then as lockdown was winding down I was volunteered as tribute to be the only non-executive staff member on-site supervising students.
Looking after my own, and other’s, mental health was both a challenge and a priority. Consoling parents trying to work and supervise their children’s education was both rewarding and draining. I feel like I flopped over the finish line and turned into a puddle of mush. Oh, and let’s not forget that extra special present of CLASSES being allocated to me to teach in 2022. On the last day of term. Gee, thanks.
And to add insult to injury, our rental property was sold to an owner-occupier, and we’re struggling to find a new place to live.
Still, I’m here. Everyone is well, not sure I can confirm our sanity is intact, but we’re still here. And I promise more optimistic blogs in the future. I read some fabulous books, and they will feature in coming editions!
