Hi everyone! Many here may know of the benefits of using assistive technologies (AT), products, and strategies to help you live your life after a stroke. However, what if you don't? With so much information available, finding the right product can be challenging. Because you don't know, what you don't know. This is where AT Chat's community of AT users can help!
AT Chat is a peer-led online community and service, providing AT information, support, and advice for Australians with disability and the people who support them.
Our range of services and supports are aimed at giving you the confidence to choose an AT solution that will meet your individual needs and goals and can be accessed via our website here.
Why not check out AT Chatterbox; a private Facebook group that provides a safe friendly space for people to connect with and learn from the lived experiences of AT users across Australia. An AT Chatterbox member stated that, "I have learned of many new devices and ways of using everyday items that assists with my disability that I might not usually have known. This is due to peer group discussions".
Your also welcome to register for free to our AT Portal where you can access our library of short videos, articles, and information resources co-developed with our community showcasing how they use assistive products to help them in their everyday lives. You can also access AT-specific e-learning modules here through AT Discover.
If you feel you would like one-on-one guidance and support to research and recommend product/s that can help you with a daily task or goal, our AT Mentors can help you. They draw from their lived experiences of disability and using assistive technology, NDIS, and their Cert IV in AT Mentoring, to provide advice about the most suitable low-risk AT solution/s (up to the value of $15,000). The service is delivered online or by phone, and can be accessed using your NDIS plan’s Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living budget.
Everything we do is aimed at helping you discover, and make an informed decision about AT solutions that can help you get on with living your life. It's another tool in your belt alongside your wonderful EnableMe community and peer-led resources provided through your i-REBOUND platform.
