My stroke was minor. Everything checked out ok but I was wrapping Christmas gifts a couple of days ago and I couldn't tie a bow. My fingers just refused to make it happen. I've done crafts all my life, wire art, cake decorating, jewellery making, sewing etc. The list is almost endless so the shock of not being able to tie a bow really hit me.
I now have a goal. Tie my shoelaces!
Update: it happened! I put on a pair of shorts and the waist ties were undone. Without thinking about it I tied them in a bow.

Things like peeling and chopping vegetables certainly take a lot longer than they used to and I am constantly dropping things. Clothes pegs are a bit of a challenge. I drop them all the time and then have a little debate with myself to decide if it's worth bending over to pick them up in case I get dizzy when I do it. My OCD brain usually wins and I pick them up.
Well done Jennifer! I can relate to your experience, and concluded that things that we used to do automatically, stay (although, I guess it depends on the type of stroke). I find that I struggle with new things (especially with technology) and I've learned to ask for help - no harm done. As an example, when we bought a new coffee machine, my wife wrote down instructions how/what and the list now hangs next to the coffee machine! Also, we had special colour markings on our old gas stove, so that I wouldn't forget to turn off the gas stove. I guess, we learn to adapt as we go on with life! Take care!
